InfoBambu - Architecture and Engeneering

On their struggle for survival, primitive men searched a way out of the jungles where they lived, moving into caves and grottos, where there was more controled environment, without rain, wind and scarry thunders. They could defend themselves better, having a harmonized society. When the lack of space forced them out of caves men started using natural resources to build temporary "caves". And there was stone, wood, dirt, sand, leaves, and certainly bamboo. It is tubular, long and tough. Flexible and easy handling, and lighter than most strong construction materials.

In Asia we have preserved examples of antique bamboo architecture, in japanese, chinese and indian temples. Taj Mahal had its upper dome recently structure by metal, when the milenar bamboo structure was replaced. Bamboo bridge construction in China is awesome, they are huge and tensionated with bamboo ropes. We find many popular bamboo habitations in Africa.
