Chemicals

toxic and must only be used in safe procedures. Always use
natural process whenever you can, it's more ecologically responsible.
Water
Bamboo
poles can be treated under water (pool or tank) for a couple
of weeks, but it must be dryed after. You may also let bamboo
poles in a stream.
